Records on team champions are very difficult to find.  It does appear that in earlier years, championships may have been determined on the basis of the finish position of students in the district tournament.  Finally, in 1967, the decision was made to stop awarding a team championship and this remained in effect until 2003 when it was again renewed using full team play.
